Charles Babbage yang lahir 26 Desember 1792 adalah seorang matematikawan dari Inggris yang pertama kali mengemukakan gagasan tentang komputer yang dapat diprogram. Sebagian dari mesin yang dikembangkannya kini dapat dilihat di Musium Sains London. Tahun 1991, dengan menggunakan rencana asli dari Babbage, sebuah mesin diferensial dikembangkan dan mesin ini dapat berfungsi secara sempurna, yang membuktikan bahwa gagasan Babbage tentang mesin ini memang dapat diimplementasikan. Charles Babbage meninggal 18 Oktober 1871 pada umur 79 tahun, meninggalkan anak ; Benjamin Herschel Babbage (1815), Charles Whitmore Babbage (1817), Georgiana Whitmore Babbage (1818), Edward Stewart Babbage (1819), Francis Moore Babbage (1821), Dugald Bromheald Babbage (1823), Henry Prevost Babbage (1824), Alexander Forbes Babbage (1827), Timothy grant Babbage (1829) 

Pada masa itu, perhitungan dengan menggunakan tabel matematika sering mengalami kesalahan. Babbage ingin mengembangkan cara melakukan perhitungan secara mekanik, sehingga dapat mengurangi kesalahan perhitungan yang sering dilakukan oleh manusia. Saat itu, Babbage mendapat inspirasi dari perkembangan mesin hitung yang dikerjakan oleh Wilhelm Schickard, Blaise Pascal, dan Gottfried Leibniz. Gagasan awal tentang mesin Babbage ditulis dalam bentuk surat yang ditulisnya kepada Masyarakat Astronomi Kerajaan berjudul "Note on the application of machinery to the computation of astronomical and mathematical tables" ("catatan mengenai penerapan mesin bagi penghitungan tabel astronomis dan matematis") tertanggal 14 Juni 1822. 

Sejarah Komputer diawali ketika Penemu Inggris Charles Babbage menyelesaikan prinsip-prinsip pemakaian umum komputer digital seabad penuh sebelum perkembangan besar-besaran mesin hitung elektronik terjadi. Mesin yang dirancangnya, yang diberinya nama "mesin analitis" pada pokoknya mampu melaksanakan apa saja yang bisa dilakukan kalkulator modern (meski tidak sama cepatnya, karena "mesin analis" bukanlah dirancang untuk bertenaga listrik). Sayangnya, berhubung teknologi abad ke-19 belumlah cukup maju, Babbage tidak sanggup merampungkan konstruksi "mesin analis" itu, selain memang tidak bisa tidak memerlukan waktu dan biaya besar. Sesudah matinya, gagasannya yang begitu cemerlang nyaris dilupakan orang. 

Tahun 1937, tulisan Babbage menjadi perhatian Howard H. Aiken, sarjana tamatan Harvard. Aiken yang juga sedang mencoba menyelesaikan rancangan mesin komputer, tergerak oleh gagasan Babbage. Bekerjasama dengan IBM, Aiken sanggup membuat Mark I, komputer pertama untuk segala keperluan. Dua tahun sesudah Mark I dioperasikan (1946), kelompok insinyur dan penemu lain menyelesaikan ENIAC, mesin hitung elektronik pertama. Sejak itu, kemajuan teknologi komputer berkembang pesat. 

Mesin hitung punya pengaruh begitu besar di dunia, malahan akan menjadi lebih penting lagi di masa depan, sumbangan pikiran Babbage terhadap perkembangan komputer tidaklah lebih besar ketimbang Aiken atau ketimbang John Mauchly dan J.O. Eckert (tokoh utama dalam perancangan ENIAC). Atas dasar itu paling sedikit ada tiga pendahulu Babbage (Blaise Pascal, Gottfried Leibniz dan Joseph Marie Jacquard) sudah membuat sumbangan setara dengan Babbage. Pascal, seorang matematikus, filosof dan ilmuwan Perancis menemukan mesin penjumlahan mekanis tahun 1642. 

Di tahun 1671 Gottfired Wilhelm Von Leibniz, seorang filosof dan matematikus merancang mesin yang dapat menjumlah, mengurangi, mengalikan dan membagi. Leibniz juga orang pertama yang menunjukkan arti penting "sistem binary," yaitu sistem penjumlahan dengan dua "digit" yang dalam jaman modern ini secara luas digunakan dalam mesin komputer. Dan orang Perancis lainnya, Jacquard, yang di awal abad ke-19 sudah menggunakan sistem pengisian komputer untuk mengawasi alat tenun. Alat tenun Jacquard yang laku deras secara komersial, punya pengaruh besar terhadap pemikiran Babbage. Boleh jadi mempengaruhi juga Herman Hollerith, seorang Amerika yang di penghujung abad 19 menggunakan sistem pengisian komputer untuk membuat kolom data di Biro Sensus.

Artinya, konsep dari Dr. Kim ternyata bisa dibuktikan. Kini, penelitinya harus melakukan sejumlah upgrade untuk mengkomersilkan produk ini. Karena saat ini, target penelitian lanjutan adalah meningkatkan komposisi zinc oxide di antara dua elektroda guna menghasilkan lebih banyak listrik dari energi suara yang lebih kecil.

Sejalan dengan perkembangan teknologi jaringan dan kebutuhan pengguna, maka sudah selayaknya suatu organisasi/lembaga memulai penerapan Jaringanatau local area network. Desain jaringan adalah penting karena berhubungan dengan rancangan kinerja dan kehandalan komputasi dan komunikasi pada suatu institusi.
Untuk merancang jaringan yang efisien maka identifikasi keragaan dan kebutuhan pengembangan merupakan tahapan yang sangat penting. Dari hasil identifikasi tersebut dilakukan analisis kebutuhan sehingga dapat dirancangjaringan yang ekonomis namun berdaya guna. Pemilihan topologi jaringanhendaknya memperhatikan karakteristik topologi itu sendiri, letak gedung, dan jumlah lantai pada gedung tersebut. Sedangkan perangkat keras untuk jaringan dipilih berdasarkan topologi jaringan, beban kerja, kebutuhan akses komunikasi, dan kebutuhan pengamanan sistem.

Topologi
 pada dasarnya adalah peta dari sebuah jaringan. Topologi jaringanterbagi lagi menjadi dua, yaitu topologi secara fisik (physical topology) dan topologi secara logika (logical topology). Topologi secara fisik menjelaskan bagaimana susunan dari kabel dan komputer dan lokasi dari semua komponen jaringan. Sedangkan topologi secara logika menetapkan bagaimana informasi atau aliran data dalam jaringan.

  • Topologi BUS

  • Topologi ini mempunyai bentuk, satu kabel utama menghubungkan ke tiap saluran tunggal komputer (membentuk huruf T), kecuali simpul disalah satu ujung kabel utama, yang hanya terhubung ke saluran komputer dan terminator sebagai penutup

  • Topologi STAR

  • Tiap simpul pada masing-masing terminal terhubung ke file server tunggal terpusat, dengan menggunakan segmen kabel sendiri. Keunggulan topologi ini adalah didapatkannya kinerja yang optimal karena lintas kabel dari terminal ke server yang pendek.

  • Topologi RING

Further fueling the fanboy threats is the recent unveiling of the Tegra 3 quad-core processor that is the first quad-core mobile chip set for use in Android devices. The Asus Transformer Prime is expected to be the first Android Tablet to pack the chip under the hood; however does Asus have what it takes to compete with Apple with a similarly priced tablet?
With the iPad 3 on the horizon and components like the A6 Processor and Retina Display; coupled with a lot of hungry fans who held out upgrading from their original iPad to the iPad 2, you can put your money on the iPad 3 shattering records once again.

IPAD 3 RETINA DISPLAY: APPLE CONSIDERING DUAL LED LIGHT BARS

If you’ve been following closely, then you will know that the iPad 3 has been running into quite a few issues that are threatening to delay the release of the refreshed tablet.  We reported earlier that Apple was having difficulties with production times and costs with the A6 Processor as well as the “must have” Retina Display.
The latest rumor coming from DigiTimes who has a somewhat credible history of insider information, references the current problems with retaining the brightness of the proposed super display on the iPad 3.  That display would come in at a resolution of 2048×1536 and be pushing out some truly impressive PPI; but the size of the screen is where Apple and its supply chain have been running into difficulties compared with the smaller display on the iPhone.
Once Apple gets all the bugs worked out including the recent resolved heat dissipation and battery consumption problems, this display is going to be the most sought after and vivid display on the market that some are arguing is the best possible display that can be made.  The human eye can only pick up differences in pixels up to a certain PPI or pixels per inch, meaning that anything over that number would be virtually wasteful as far as production costs and technology go.
The present issues run into by the Cupertino giant and their Taiwanese supply chain is the LED backlight.  The current single LED back-light bar (in the iPad 2) is “insufficient” to maintain and strengthen the brightness of the retina display for the iPad 3.
LED back-light unit vendors or BLUs have proposed two solutions to help Apple.  The first would involve adding a second LED chip inside the single-bar form factor, while the second would be to use a “dual-LED light bar inside the iPad 3, one on the left and one on the right,” to support the display.  Apple is reportedly keener with the second option and will be using that as pre-run production continues.
We’re hoping this is good news that the iPad 3 could still make its debut in March of 2012, but with the past rumor of two tablet models from Apple in 2012, some are still going with the notion that the iPad 3 with these proposed specs won’t be ready in time.  After all Apple only needs to stay slightly ahead of its competitors technology spec plans to remain in the lead.

IPAD 3 MAY BE THE IPAD 2S SIMILAR TO THE IPHONE 4S RELEASE SHOCK

After the recent news regarding the difficulties with getting the beloved retina display at the required resolution into the iPad 3 at a reasonable cost, more rumors are surfacing depicting two iPad models in 2012.
It is currently unclear whether or not Apple will be able to equip the iPad 3 with an A6 Processor and a retina display in time for the usual Q1 official launch. This has led some speculation that the iPad 3 could be pushed back as far as Mid 2012.
Countering that in the midst of some insider information is that Apple may shift gears and rather than wait, release two models: one being around the usual March of 2012, while the other and “true iPad 3” would be well into the year.
I’d have to say it would anger a lot of fans and technology lovers that already thought that the iPad 2 was rather just a small step up from the original iPad. But Apple has always stood on the premise that they don’t give customers what they want, because they don’t know what’s best for them right? Whether it’s the iPad 2S or iPad 3, production has already begun on the next refresh.

Most of the information has originated from DigiTimes who was able to snag some information from a source in Apple’s upstream supply chain; who basically said that Apple is placing the March release as an upgraded iPad 2, rather than the revolutionary iPad 3 that has anxious up-graders waiting as they bite their nails deep into the nail-bed with anticipation & anxiety.
Apple still has a stronghold on the tablet market, which has lead some channel retailers to also cite that Apple probably isn’t too worried to rush another model out, seeing their continued success as the one to beat.
With competition brewing from the Android world, I’m sure that Apple wants to make sure that they keep perfecting their iPad 3 to make sure it is going to shatter anything near it, especially if delays with the A6 Processor and retina display are holding things up for full production sometime in Q3 2012.

IPAD 3 DISPLAY (RETINA) POSING PRODUCTION DIFFICULTIES?

Apple appears to be going after the new display benchmark with the iPad 3.  Seeing how they would love to pack a retina display in the tablet, manufacturers may be strained according to an anonymous source.
Retina display is named so because of the correlation between pixels and detail versus what the human eye can distinguish from.  Your iPhone 4S has 326 PPI in a 3.5 inch screen running at a resolution of 960×640.  So what about the plans for the iPad 3?
Still looking to Samsung and LG for the production of the display for Apple’s latest tablet, the likely resolution will be running at 2048×1536 and hitting a mark of 264 PPI.  Broken down further, the current iPad 2 is sitting at 132 PPI; so this would be a drastic leap forward and something that would propel Apple with a major selling point once more.
Begging for an answer is how much is rumor and how much is fact: that Apple will be able to produce such a screen for the iPad 3 within time constraints and production difficulties that the manufacturers could run into.  That is a serious display right there, and it would have to be produced in massive quantities along with an attractive price for Apple to keep their margins intact.
Referring to Samsung and LG the source said “They have production plans for 2048×1536 displays starting in November, but those are only plans at this point.”  Let’s hope that these plans can solidify and each manufacturer is able to produce the units in the quantities that Apple needs before deciding to scrap the plan altogether and await a future refresh.
If Apple can’t work out bugs for the manufacturers to be able to bring forth enough displays at this resolution to meet demand then they will likely have to revert to the lower 1600×200.  Taking it a step above the proposed 2048×1536 is 3200×4200 which would yield a massive 412 PPI, but the average human eye can’t see differences past 300 PPI anyway; especially at the optimal viewing distance for a tablet.  Unless you enjoy hurting your eyes and staring at the screen from 3 inches away; but hey who am I to judge.
It’s pretty certain that regardless – Apple will have the first look at this vivid display into their devices which should set them up for another tablet that will remain at the top of the charts.  Adding to the increase in resolution and pixel density would also be a brightness level of 550nits which is extremely bright.  This display is really starting to sound amazing!
The iPad 2 is running at roughly 389 nits if you wanted a benchmark to go off of.  More white nits equal more display brightness and adding in the increased retina display resolution and pixel density is really going to make the iPad 3 display stunning.  Who else has retina display at the top of their iPad 3 wanted specs list now?

IPAD 3 LEAKED PHOTO: PART SUGGESTS FURTHER SLIMMING

In a forever battle of “thin is in,” the iPad 3 could be shaving some more width off its design. Many have questioned whether it’s even possible to keep thinning a tablet, when fans are clamoring and shouting for boosted specs at the same time.
Well, with news of an increased battery that is smaller and thinner thanks to some new innovation by Apple, and now the leaked photo of a dock connector; Apple fans may be in store for yet another round of weight reduction and slimming in store for the iPad 3.
Once the iPad 2 hit store shelves and took the tablet market by storm, Apple’s business partner and current legal rival; Samsung went to work with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 which runs on Android and is currently slimmer than the iPad 2. Would someone purchase a tablet because of aesthetics and thickness alone? That’s left open to personal desires but I think the margins are somewhat negligible at best.
The Fate of the iPad 3
Coming straight from an Asian supplier website, the dock connector photo shows the part that clearly looks to be both smaller and slimmer than the current ones. Maybe they’re just shifting some internals, but the bigger plans with a revamped battery taking up less space and a new dock connector could mean making space for some new parts (ahem thunderbolt), or thinning the tablet out even more.

If the source is credible, the new connector has the same number of pins but is actually smaller in shape. This could lead to connector issues with some of the current products out there; according to speculations.
The iPad 3 is still set to retain the standard 9.7 inches and will likely be released in Q1 2012 if all goes well with no delays. If any hiccups happen with the A6 processor which is set to be included in the iPad 3, we may be waiting to mid-year before the tablet is ready. Also, given some of the recent circumstances, we will have to wait and see as the iPad 3 release date comes closer.

IPAD 3 RUMORS SUGGEST A6 STILL COMING FROM SAMSUNG

The latest iPad 3 rumor, in a string of many regarding the A6 processor, appears to be that Apple hasn’t counted Samsung out yet as their supplier for the next generation iPad and iPhone chips – which will be released in 2012.
Asking to remain anonymous, an industry source (executive for an Apple parts supplier in Korea) said that “Apple has been in talks with Samsung over shipment of its A6 quad core chips.” In his statement he refers to the mobile A6 which is rumored to be included in the next iPhone.
In the past the A6 processor has been rumored to be pushed back until mid 2012, meaning it would be hard for Apple to get it into the iPad 3 with a release date sometime in Q1 2012. With that said, the anonymous source also went on to claim that “Samsung has been increasing the output of the Apple-designed A6 chips in its manufacturing plant in Austin, Texas;” a statement that would seem to refute that past rumor.
Increasing production could only mean one thing right? Apple recently begun its first wave of production of the iPad 3, and now an industry source is claiming at the same time that the A6 processor production is increasing as well. Coincidence or not, with the rumored specs of the iPad 3, it seems apparent that an A6 chip is the only foreseeable processor for Apple’s next-gen tablet; especially if it’s going to stay ahead of the competitors who are working tirelessly to dethrone the king.
Also divulging some information on TSMC, the source said that they will only produce a “small volume of customized chips”, while Samsung will be doing the majority of the leg work with their 28-nanometer processing technology.
Apple seems to be playing it safe, and for good reason. TSMC is believed to have not “yet been stabilized,” and that “Samsung offers better pricing and capacity commitment for the A6,” according to an analyst: Nho Geun-Chang.
It would be disastrous if Apple were to make a brash decision to switch suppliers completely so soon and then risk suffering from poor reliability, performance or other possible risk factors in doing so. On top of that, we don’t know how long the pre-existing manufacturing contract between Samsung and Apple is either.
Apple has their back-up plan in place with other processor manufacturers on the sidelines, however you should expect the A6 to be produced in majority by long time business partner Samsung, despite the legal issues that still remain largely unsettled. A quad-core A6 processor would be a delightful and welcomed addition to the iPad 3 that is anticipated to be released in March or April of 2012.

IPAD 3 EARLY PRODUCTION EVIDENCE: Q4 BUILDS INCREASING

According to a financial analyst, Jeff Fidacaro, the iPad 3 has begun its first production run. Apple has been in the news nonstop as of late with the death of their beloved icon Steve Jobs, the release of iOS 5 (despite its headaches at the moment), iCloud, and today the releasing of the iPhone 4S.
Where has Fidacaro derived the information from that the iPad 3 has entered into production? After looking at Apple’s supply chain checks, iPad builds are up to 12 and 14-million compared to previous numbers at 11 and 13-million.

“Since our last month supply chain checks we are now seeing 600,000 to 1-million iPad 3 builds showing up on the plan for the fourth quarter of calendar 2011,” said Fidacaro to AllThingsD. Fidacaro also went on to say that under his last estimates, his findings did not encompass any iPad 3 tablets being in production yet.
In our previous article we announced that components for the iPad 3 were entering the manufacturing stage and being distributed through the supply chain, however this news tells us that the full product is now being produced, or assembled.
Are These Numbers Really the iPad 3?
I think it’s safe to say that the iPad 3 is being produced in small numbers behind the scenes, especially with testing of various components and prototypes; however it needs to be asked whether or not Fidacaro actually has any evidence other than mere financial numbers.

The reason behind the skepticism is the fact that the holiday season is approaching. The sheer numbers that are proposed for Q4 may be largely attributed to making sure that supply can meet demand. The iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are already being labeled as the hot ticket items on people’s wanted lists. Apple’s iPad 3 may be within those numbers, but it’s uncertain at what extent given the reality of fourth quarter sales.

STEVE JOBS DEAD AT 56: APPLE CEO & CO-FOUNDER

Steve Jobs, the talent and brains behind Apple’s beloved devices has passed away.  His death is sudden, tragic and the team here at iPad 3 news blog is deeply saddened.  Steve Jobs has been fighting sickness and recently stepped down in August appointing Tim Cook in his place.  Jobs was 56 years old and received a liver transplant back in 2009 when he initially took extended medical leave.
Although under the direction of Tim Cook, Steve Jobs, Apple CEO and Co-Founder was still set to play a role in the company.  If you had a chance to visit the homepage of Apple you should have noticed this evening that they are displaying a full-page in honor of Mr. Jobs, declaring the years of his life: 1955-2011.  Jobs is survived by his wife, and four children.
We have him to thank for the devices we all love including the development of the iPod, iPhone and iPads to name a few, which have been the leaders in each of their markets.  His methodology, advertising and vision helped establish what Apple is today and that shouldn’t be soon forgot.
Mr. Jobs was adopted by a family who resided in Palo Alto California, and was a college dropout who quickly established himself as an innovator in the technology sector.  He was only 21 years old when he and his friend Steve Wozniak founded Apple Computer Inc. in the family garage back in 1976.  Mr. Wozniak after hearing of the tragic news told ABC News that “I’m shocked and disturbed.”
Many critics are already asking whether or not Apple will continue to be what Jobs has created in his absence.  Jobs was notorious for revealing the most significant aspects of his devices at the very end of their unveilings and his strict enforcement of keeping his employees tight lipped.
This strategy was directly related to his vision that such a plan of action would lead to heightened anticipation for the upcoming device(s).  He was right about that, because as soon as each iOS device is released, we’re all eagerly wondering what’s in store for the next refresh.
Mr. Jobs, you will be missed; and may your family and friends be strong in this difficult time.
